About Me

I am an individual stuck in a rut who loves to re-name her 21 cats in the cabin she lives in at the edge of that god-awful forest on the other side of China that no one can reach.

2008

For me, I've really changed in 2008.
a) I ditched hoodies. Whoo-hoo!
b) I gained a ton of great friends.
c) I've moved my blog from Xanga to Blogspot.
d) I'm just busier.

Really, I like the change, but I'm not gonna go on about that.

Gin's Style of '08:
a) Alexander Wang I've become OBSESSED with Alexander Wang. I know I sound similar to every fashionable girl out there, but there's a reason why he is so popular. I think I might have to find an AW shirt alternative at American Apparel.
b) Skinnies I don't care what trends might say; I still love my skinny jeans. I love H&M and Cheap Monday brands the best. I'm actually wearing Cheap Mondays right as we speak.
c) Studs I've always had a fetish for studs, but now, I can wear them without being ridiculed. I wish I could afford find better studded cuffs (I hate the Hot Topic ones), but I am learning to DIY them.
d) PS1 Purse My need for a PS1 purse has semi-replaced my dream for a Birkin. I mean, a PS1 is no Birkin, but it's pretty close. I love how casual it is.
e) Christian Louboutin Astraqueens My number one most needed/loved shoe right now. All my friends know this is the shoe I want. Could someone just buy them for me, please?
f) Gloves I love gloves! They work with anyone's style! I especially love the ones pictured from Rodarte. They're over $500, but I know I can create them for just $15 or along those lines.
g) Blazers I've loved blazers since the 7th grade, but I haven't found a decent one for me. Now that they're really popular, I can get them anywhere. I'm so happy.

Oh, and here were the songs I listened to way too often in '08.
1) Anything by the Last Shadow Puppets
2) Je Veux Te Voir- Yelle
3) Cross Your Fingers- Laura Marling
4) Across the Universe soundtrack
5) L'Accordeoniste- Edith Piaf
6) Who- Five O'Clock Heroes feat. Agyness Deyn
7) Great DJ- The Ting Tings
8) Kids- MGMT (best MGMT; totally beats Electric Feel's ass)
9) Guess Who Batman- Lily Allen (It's called F**k You on her new album)
10) Bye Bye Blackbird- Josephine Baker
11) Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered- Sam Barnett
12) M79- Vampire Weekend
13) This Charming Man- Smiths
14) Holland 1945- Neutral Milk Hotel
15) These Days- Nico

There is so much more, but I felt as though it'd overwhelm the post.

So, as I hope you realized, this is my last post of 2008. My friend's father is not doing so well in the hospital, and she needs her friends with her. Depending on what happens, I don't know when I'll repost.

And I just remembered; I have finals I need to pass in 2 weeks. Ew.

But happy new year everyone!

12/31/08: So, thinking makeover of site in the new year, eh? See some changes before my next post.

To maintain my integrity...

I recieved my Teen Vogue in the mail today. (I silently "woot"-ed. I had just come back from Marley and Me. That's for another post...)

But, I open up to the music section and see this amazing band I've been gushing over for weeks upon weeks. (And yes, I'm this selfish...)

I KNEW LATE OF THE PIER BEFORE YOU! I've been spreading the joys of the "Focker" music video for weeks, and I've had "Space and the Woods" on my Myspace for ages.

So, don't think I'm a poser when they eventually (and hopefully not) become popular here in the US.

And there was Nickel Eye too. Nikolai Fraiture is awesome...

Oh, and if they're a British Cobra Starship, please warn me amist my embarassment...

Hair obsession

If you saw my hair ever, which you will hopefully soon, maybe, who knows, you will know that I have huge curly hair. Well, no afro, but it's Erin Wasson on volumizing steroids.

But, those who read Drop Knowledge Not Bombs (ah-hem-BRIT-ah-hem) know I'm so obsessive over haircuts. And I'm thinking of maybe getting one in a month or so or whatever, but I always seek advice from the fashionable crew first. Yes, that means you.

So, what about this bang? It's similar to what my hair is...?

Okay, POINTLESS POST. Respond if you'd like.

We wish you a Merry Christmas...today...

Well, I got an early Christmas present from mi padre.

Isn't it pretty?

Well, actually, I've been pining it for a while, and I actually bought it WITH my dad. So, yeah, does it make sense now?

But, I'm really so androgynous, and this bag adds a bit of my happy flair plus adds some color to my grey/navy/black wardrobe.

(It's actually not the benign red you always see. It's really different and beautiful.)

(And it's Marc by Marc Jacobs, easily one of my favorite brands...)

Well, that's all I have to say. Christmas is in...what? 2 DAYS! Excited.

I might update on Christmas or after. Otherwise, happy Chanukah to all Jewish readers out there...

EDIT: I got the Canon Powershot for Christmas. Actually, the exact same one I posted (the one that looks like a chocolate bar). Let me say that it looks 10x prettier in real life.
Pictures hopefully soon!!

Biz-say

I think teachers are so uncaring of their dear students. They won't even let them get off without piling them all with crap before 2008 ends.

Yes, I am writing my paper at the last minute of forensic sculpting. So what?

But, I probably won't be able to post properly until maybe even Christmas sadly. I have tests all next week...yes, it may be a two day week, but still, look to the first sentance. AND musical auditions are on Saturday, and I may have to be there at 7! IN THE MORNING. Call this world pathetic.

But, just bidding you all well until I return.

My Love/Hate Relationship with Dazed & Confused

So, I have a Myspace. Whoopie. No biggie. (No, you'll not be my friend. Thank you.) But, that's not random; this point will lead to something.

But, maybe 3 months ago, I saw a bulletin from the magazine Dazed & Confused about how they wanted teens for their Teenage Issue. I died, nearly contacted them...and that was before I realized the note "...who live in Great Britain." I died but in a different way this time.

So, now, the issue has come out. I feel awfully that I could not play a part in it. WAH. BUT, the pictures Hedi Slimane are GORGEOUS.

Not only to mention that the guys fall in the same category.

I am now officially jealous of anyone who currently owns this issue. It is currently creeping towards the top of my Christmas list. (I'll have to travel across town to get my hands on it) Tell me how it is if you are one of the several I envy.

M.O.D. = me?

So, I saw this on Le Fashion a while back, and I couldn't help but thinking how closely this relates to my style.

Considering that I've secretly been pining a PS1 bag for a while...

So, appreciate my style. *sticks out tongue and waves hands beside face*

PS: I realize that my blog's been quite a bore. It's just over 2 weeks 'til Christmas...bear with me...

You were my first kiss...

I am in love with Lissy Trullie. No, not in a lesbian way, but I love the music. Both Lissy Trullie and Harley Viera-Newton (yes, she's the bassist!) are so fashion forward.

"Boy Boy" is my favorite, but you can truly appreciate her and the band live.

Pre-Fall

So, Chanel and Burberry Prorsum were put up on Style.com. I died.

Considering I'm home sick for the second time this week, this pretty much makes my day.

I've always been a Burberry Prorsum fan. Christopher Bailey always delivers. He showed his usual, and I was happy.

But, Chanel pretty much killed me. Being a little Russian girl, I freaked out. I would have worn anything. The jewelry was the best thing ever. I would have even worn the head pieces.

And hello! Karl even made a short film! AH! (Go to chanel.com to watch)

Your opinions?

New Favorite Selby

So, I've been posting just of stuff I love/have fallen in love with (yes, Jim Sturgess will be on here sometime soon), and you must be getting sick of it by this point. But I have no camera. Boo me.

It's 3 weeks and 1 day until Christmas. Be patient!

But, here's the point of my post. I found this amazing Selby of an actress named Alessandra Torresani. Why does this Selby stand out from others? Well, the Hello Kitty memorabilia might play a part in my love of the it.

I only can wish...

I never really wanted to have children.

Then, I saw this picture.

How adorable.
